The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs 11-1 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Terrible efforts from the defense and bullpen really put the Mets at a disadvantage all game. Jonathon Niese suffered his fifth loss of the season as the Mets fall to 22-25 on the season.

 

After a game like this, I can only imagine what Freddy Wilpon is going to say next...

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies 9-5 on Thursday night at Coors Field. After a postponement and then rain delay, they take a much needed series on the road. Carlos Beltran powered the Mets to a victory, putting them at a 17-20 record.

Clayton Kershaw pitched 6.2 innings of 1-run ball and Andre Eithier hit a key 7th-inning 2-run home run to lead the Dodgers to victory over the Mets on Mother’s Day.  The Mets’ record now stands at 15-19.

For the first 6 innings, R.A. Dickey and Clayton Kershaw locked into a 2-1 pitcher’s duel.  Ronny Paulino singled in the first run of the game, but that would be all the Mets would get off of Kershaw today.  Meanwhile, the Dodgers were able to scratch single runs off Dickey in the 3rd and 4th innings, who took another hard-luck loss today.

I have already selected 13 position players to open the season on the New York Mets roster. As Spring Training continues, it is time to announce which pitchers I believe will make the Opening Day squad. There has been a lot of competition this offseason as a handful of hurlers are looking to battle back from injuries. Some of these pitchers are familiar names, while others are trying to make Flushing their new home. So who makes the cut? I’ll give you a hint: two of them are pictured below.
