After learning that Joba’s 2011 season is effectively over (Tommy John surgery), the Yankees came out and literally smacked the Tribe, 11-7. Things got ugly early as Indians starter, Fausto Carmona hit Mark Teixeira with a second inning fastball in the right shoulder. The pitch came immediately after Curtis Granderson connected with a solo blast (his 19th) to extend the Yankee lead to 4-0. Both benches cleared, Teixeira/Carmona got into a screaming match while Joe Girardi and Indians’ manager, Manny Acta got into an even more intense shouting match. After the dust settled, the Yankee offense, led by an A-Rod majestic three-run shot (his 12th), came away on top as the Yanks improved to 34-27.

The New York Yankees hit into six double plays tonight as the Texas Rangers came out victorious 5-3. Matt Harrison went eight supreme innings and Ivan Nova could not make it out of the fifth. With the loss, the Yanks move to 7-5 on this young season.
