The Big Pelf version of Mike Pelfrey appears to have returned, as he threw 8 shutout innings in the victory against the same Houston Astros that just won four straight against the Sillies down Philthydelphia earlier this week.  While it was a nice win, the Mets still sit far down in the standings.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. They were unable to sweep the worst team in baseball, and head home with a bad taste in their mouths. A big homestand against the Florida Marlins and Houston Astros will be a decent test to see if the Mets really have their minds focused on playing October baseball.
