Carlos Zambrano pitched 6 strong innings for the Chicago Cubs (and went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI), Mets starter R.A. Dickey had to leave in the 3rd inning with an apparent foot injury, and the Cubs won in a rout. The loss drops the Mets to 23-26 on the year.
It was a blustery day in Chicago, with the gameday temperature starting at 42 degrees. Zambrano and Dickey traded zeroes until the top of the 3rd inning. With one out in that inning, Jose Reyes smacked a double to right field. Instead of just stopping at second, however, a couple of bad throws during the play allowed him to come around and score. To quote Gary Cohen, it was a little league home run.
