The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins tonight by a final score of 8-1. Phil Hughes dominated (more on that below) as he could suddenly be the leader in the clubhouse to start Game #2 of the ALDS for the Yankees. With the win, the Yanks move to 76-47 on the season.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Yankees by a score of 5-4 this evening. Per usual, the starter (Bartolo Colon) gave up multiple earned runs while the bullpen shut it down, but tonight the offense wasn’t able to provide a bail out. With the loss, the Yankees move to 74-47 on the season and remain a half game up on the Red Sox in the division with their afternoon loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 9-2 this afternoon. Phil Hughes successfully got the Yankees through the first six innings with a little help from the offense, specifically Jorge Posada (see more below) With the win, the Yankees fall to 72-46 on the season.

The New York Yankees helped us forget what happened in last night’s ugly affair as they beat up the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim by a score of 9-3. Curtis Granderson smacked two home runs and Robinson Cano finished a single short of the cycle as Ivan Nova picked up his 11th win of the season. With the win, the Yankees are now 70-45 on the season.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim defeated the New York Yankees tonight by a score of 6-4. Mariano Rivera came into the game with a tie score, but allowed a two-run homer to former Yankee Bobby Abreu. Then, with the game-winning run (Mark Teixeira) up to bat with runners on first and third in the ninth, Curtis Granderson fell for the old Jeff Nelson third-to-first play to end the game. With the terrible loss, the Yankees fall to 69-45 on the season.

The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox tonight by a score of 18-7. This was the Yankees sixth straight win, and will look to sweep their first series since the Milwaukee series in late June tomorrow night. With the win, the Yankees move to 67-42 on the year.

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles twice on Saturday; 8-3 in the afternoon game, and 17-3 in the nightcap. 25 runs in one day – wow. Both starters, Bartolo Colon and Ivan Nova, won their respective starts. With the two wins, the Yankees  move to 63-42 and pick up a half game on the Boston Red Sox, who defeated the Chicago White Sox 10-2.

The New York Yankees posted a victory over the Seattle Mariners tonight by a score of 4-1. CC Sabathia took a perfect game into the seventh inning, through two rain delays, in route to his Major League leading fifteenth victory of the season. With the win, the Yankees move to 61-40 on the season.

The New York Yankees posted a victory in the rubber match of the Oakland Athletic series with a 7-5 victory. The game honestly should not have been as close as it was, but it was still an entertaining game for all those in attendance and those watching from home. With the win, the Yankees move to 19 games over .500 for the fifth time this year.

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays tonight by a score of 4-0. Curtis Granderson smashed his 26th home run on the season, giving the Yankees all the run support they would need. The four-headed monster of Freddy Garcia, Boone Logan, David Robertson, and Mariano Rivera got the shutout for the Yankees as they move a game closer to knocking the Rays out of the playoff race for good. With the victory, the Yanks are now 57-38.
