For the second straight night, the Mets took a 4-3 lead into the 9th.  For the second straight night, their closer blew the save.  This time, however, they didn’t emerge with the “W.”  Aramis Ramirez played the hero in this one, singling in the tying and winning runs with 2 outs, off Bobby Parnell.  His 5th blown save on the year drops the Mets to 71-74.  The Mets’ bats showed their usual late-game fight in this one: down 3-0 in the 8th, they scored 4 to stake Parnell to the lead.  Unfortunately, he’s got a little way to go before he earns the right to be called their closer.
