He’s back. The Knicks announced today that they will pick up point guard, Chauncey Billups‘ 2012 option. The 34-year-old Billups will make $14 million and hopefully give the Knicks a better effort next season. Billups only played in Game 1 against the Celtics, scoring ten points on 3 of 11 shooting. The Knicks had an obvious gap at the point guard in Billups’ absence.

Reaction: The 2012 off-season will be interesting with both Chris Paul and Dwight Howard hitting free agency. Billups will be a nice one-year stop gap as the Knicks will once again be a playoff team in the East. I don’t think Billups can hang with the East’s top point guards(Rose, Rondo, Williams) defensively, but Mr. Big Shot needs to spread the floor more and give Amar’e and Carmelo more open looks.

Knick Fans: Are you happy with Billups coming back for another season?

The New York Knicks were without Amar’e Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups for the majority of Game 2 against Boston. Stoudemire left with a lower back strain while Billups did not play with a knee injury. An MRI of Stoudemire’s lower back came back clean today and the power forward said that he’s playing Game 3. Billups had fluid drained from his knee today and is questionable for Game 3. Billups adamantly stated that the Knicks would have won the last two games if he were out there for the final minutes.

The Knicks need both Billups and Stoudemire in the lineup if they want to take down Boston in Game 3. The Celtics will enjoy an extra day of rest before Game 3 on Friday.

My gut tells me we’ll see a full-game from Amar’e on Friday, but I don’t think we’ll see Chauncey.

Ray Allen has buried countless opponents in the past with his deadly three point shooting. Chalk the 2011 Knicks up to his kill count. With 13 second to go, Allen nailed a three, giving the Celtics a 87-85 advantage. However, the play was definitely controversial. The Celtics used a Kevin Garnett screen**** on Toney Douglas to free up Allen. Ronny Turiaf did not rotate quick enough to defend Allen, allowing him to knock down the triple. Now, Douglas fell down on the screen**** which clearly seemed like a tripping foul. The question begs to be asked, were the Knicks robbed in Game 1?

The Garden was rocking tonight in Carmelo Anthony’s debut, and the Knickerbocker’s delivered with a 114-108 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Carmelo Anthony struggled at the start of the game, looking tense and nervous but settled in finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Chauncey Billups showed that he can be a floor general, scoring 21 points, while going a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line.
