Kenny and I ventured into NYC to Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant on Tuesday Night for ex-Yank Roy White’s press conference to announce he was starting this year’s Runyon’s 5K Race at Yankee Stadium. In addition to eating some delicious food and mingling with various runners, we had a few minutes to listen to Roy talk about his playing experience with the New York Yankees. Mr. White played alongside Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford, and Reggie Jackson. How many Yankees can attest to that? Mr. White was an even nicer person and had a lot of interesting facts to share that not many fans may know..

Brett Gardner’s RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning broke a two-all tie as the Yankees finished off the three-game sweep of the Rangers. 32-year-old journeyman Brian Gordon made an impressive Bronx debut, giving up two earned runs in 5.1 innings. The Yankee bullpen backed up Gordon, tossing 6.2 innings of scoreless ball. With the win, the Yankee finish off their ten-game home stand with a 6-4 record and improve to 39-28 on the season.

Seven Orioles pitchers held the Yankees without a single earned run for 14 innings Wednesday night.

Thursday’s starter, Brad Bergesen, repeated the feat, but for all of just four pitches.

The Yanks unloaded on the Orioles, early and often, on their way to a 13-2 thrashing.

It’s been a week since the Yankees held that familiar victory gathering in the infield following a win, so their 6-2 win tonight over Tampa Bay made it that much sweeter.

Alex Rodriguez hit a pair of homers and David Robertson pinned the Rays with the bases loaded, leading the way as the Yankees snapped their six-game losing streak. Yankee fans: you no longer have to hold your breath, or grow your beard, or wear the same clothes until the Yankees win.

In the most bizarre Yankee game that I’ve seen, the Yanks blasted five homers, led by Derek Jeter’s first two of the year, and committed four errors in the field in a 12-5 win over the Rangers. Jeter and Curtis Granderson went back-to-back, and Francisco Cervelli hit the first grand slam of his career, leading the way in a barrage of power and slip-ups.

Detorit starter Brad Penny – usually shelled by the Bombers – outdueled CC Sabathia tonight, limiting the Yanks to just one run (unearned) in six strong innings. But, it was the Yankees who made it that much harder on themselves. A night after going 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position but still coming away with the win, the Yanks’ fortunes were not the same tonight, thanks to a few gaffes on the basepaths.
