After learning that Joba’s 2011 season is effectively over (Tommy John surgery), the Yankees came out and literally smacked the Tribe, 11-7. Things got ugly early as Indians starter, Fausto Carmona hit Mark Teixeira with a second inning fastball in the right shoulder. The pitch came immediately after Curtis Granderson connected with a solo blast (his 19th) to extend the Yankee lead to 4-0. Both benches cleared, Teixeira/Carmona got into a screaming match while Joe Girardi and Indians’ manager, Manny Acta got into an even more intense shouting match. After the dust settled, the Yankee offense, led by an A-Rod majestic three-run shot (his 12th), came away on top as the Yanks improved to 34-27.

Seven Orioles pitchers held the Yankees without a single earned run for 14 innings Wednesday night.

Thursday’s starter, Brad Bergesen, repeated the feat, but for all of just four pitches.

It’s been a week since the Yankees held that familiar victory gathering in the infield following a win, so their 6-2 win tonight over Tampa Bay made it that much sweeter.

Alex Rodriguez hit a pair of homers and David Robertson pinned the Rays with the bases loaded, leading the way as the Yankees snapped their six-game losing streak. Yankee fans: you no longer have to hold your breath, or grow your beard, or wear the same clothes until the Yankees win.
