No team’s stock is falling fast than the Jets. They were just embarrassed 34-0 at home by the San Francisco 49ers and will now have to face the undefeated Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

Even at MetLife Stadium, the Jets are sizable underdogs in the NFL odds. They’re getting as many as nine points against the visiting Texans.

New York’s in a huge downward spiral right now. Not only were they just outclassed by the 49ers, but they also lost Santonio Holmes to injury. Holmes is done for the season.

There goes one of the Jets’ best offensive players, if not the best. And New York’s already lost star cornerback Darrelle Revis too, their best defensive player.

We saw what kind of impact Revis’ absence had versus San Francisco. The Jets couldn’t stop the 9ers from moving the ball up and down the field at will.

The offense was just as bad, with Mark Sanchez unable to muster up anything once again. Sanchez is completing only 49.2 percent of his passes this season and has a very pedestrian rating of 69.7.  Those numbers aren’t going to get much better now that Holmes, who led the team with 41 targets, is out of action.

It doesn’t help your passing game when you can’t run the ball whatsoever either. Shonn Greene is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry as the Jets have totaled only 346 total rushing yards this season.

Will any of this get better against the 4-0 Houston?

Well, a lot of people are already writing off the Jets, but there’s a lot of time left for them to bounce back. It helps that they’ve got a relatively easy schedule too as they’ll still get to play Indianapolis, Miami, Jacksonville, Tennessee and Buffalo among others.

As crazy as the NFL is, the Jets could very well shock the masses and get a win on Monday night. But don’t hold your breath.
