A terrific season opener for the Jets saw them crush the Buffalo Bills 48-28. Things will get trickier this weekend when they travel to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers as underdogs.

Quite a weekend it was for New York fans, as Rex Ryan’s crew dominated the Bills in every facet of the game.

The Jets were up 41-7 at one juncture and gave up most of Buffalo’s points in the closing stages of the game, making the score seem closer than the matchup really was.

Ryan couldn’t have planned it to go any better.

Mark Sanchez was 19-of-27 for 266 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He finished with a QB rating of 123.4, a great start for a quarterback that’s under constant pressure with Tim Tebow in as the backup.

Running back Shonn Greene had 27 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown, while rookie wide receiver Stephen Hill caught five balls for 89 yards and two scores.

To boot, Jeremy Kerley had a 68-yard punt return and Antonio Cromartie returned an interception 40 yards for an additional score. Overall, the Jets defense picked Ryan Fitzpatrick off three times and looked every bit as advertised.

We should witness a great game this weekend though and it’s bound to be a lot more difficult for New York. The Steelers are coming off a tough loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football and will be desperate to please the home fans while also avoiding a 0-2 start.

It’ll be interesting to see which way the public goes in terms of their NFL picks for this Week 2 clash, but if the Jets can replicate their performance from last weekend they’ll be in a good position to keep this game close and perhaps they’ll even be able to walk away with the win.

Easier said than done against the Steelers though.
