It’s been an ugly, ugly start for the New York Jets so far in the preseason. For their sake, let’s hope they can sort it out before they open the regular season at home against the improving Buffalo Bills.
First though, the Jets have to take care of two more exhibition matchups, starting with a home date with Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers this weekend.
Through the first two weeks, New York’s scored a total of just nine points, losing 17-6 to the Cincinnati Bengals and then 26-3 (at home) against the Giants.
Neither starter Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow have done very well in the preseason so far. The same can be said for the entire offensive unit. Is this what we can expect from the Jets this season?
The Panthers, on the other hand, don’t have any quarterback issues and could be in for a surprisingly good season. They lost their preseason opener (26-13) to Houston but then bounced back with a 23-17 win over Miami last Friday.
Newton was effective in the win over the Dolphins, completing 8-of-11 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. The second-year pro continues to show signs of improvement in the passing game, but obviously has a lot to live up to after what he was able to accomplish as a rookie.
Even though Newton’s performing at a high level, the NY Jets may be the right side with your NFL picks this Sunday.
Rex Ryan has to be itching for a win and you know focus will be at an-all time high as New York tries to build up some positive vibes heading into the regular season. The Jets will be hoping to impress the home fans after disappointing them last week against their city rivals. Can they do it?
