If you wanted to make money with your free MLB picks this weekend, hopefully you rolled with the Yankees over the Mets.

Who are the chickens now Frank Francisco?

What a chump. He calls out the Yankees, the best team in the league, and then promptly finds himself on the disabled list because of a strained muscle. Talk about karma.

It was an entertaining series this weekend, but was it really any surprise that we beat out the Mets? This is the Mets we’re talking about guys.

We did give our weak city rivals some hope by allowing them to win the first game of the series, but then enough was enough.

The Yankees came back and won game two 4-3 behind a big seventh inning in which we scored all of our runs. Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez hit home runs and our bullpen was excellent as always.

Ivan Nova didn’t get a decision, but pitched decently enough, going 5.2 IP with five hits and two earned runs allowed. He had seven strikeouts and three walks.

That set the stage for a deciding game on Sunday night, with two aces in C.C. Sabathia and R.A. Dickey going head-to-head.

Dickey messed it up though and the Yankees torched him for five runs. It was his shortest outing since May 17.

For the Bronx Bombers, Nick Swisher belted a three run shot early on and then Robinson Cano put us ahead by one with a towering home run in the top of the eighth. Sabathia, who eats dudes like Dickey for breakfast, didn’t get the win but allowed only one earned run in close to six innings.

In the end, the proof was in the pudding about who the better team is. The Yankees came into Citi Field, and pushed their record to 43-28.
