The AFC East will be one of the most intriguing divisions to track this coming season, especially when it comes to your NFL picks. Buffalo got out to a great start last season but then completely collapsed.

However, with a lot of young talent on the offensive side of the ball and some improvements to the defense as well, the Bills could be quite dangerous this season.

One big reason why is the acquisition of the best free agent of the summer, Mario Williams.

Previously with the Houston Texans, Williams was a force to be reckoned with as a defensive end there, showing every doubter why he deserved to be picked number one overall.

He joins a Buffalo defense that has a number of other terrific talents. Tackles Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams are excellent while Kirk Morrison, Nick Barnett and Kelvin Sheppard should open the season as the starting linebackers.

The secondary is where the Bills had issues last season, even with solid talents like Jairus Byrd and George Wilson. One reason for the lack of defensive prowess was the ligament injury to Terrence McGee, who’s dealt with countless injuries recently. He’s only played in 15 games over the past two seasons.

The Bills also went out and bolstered their secondary even more by selecting Stephen Gilmore with their first-round pick in the NFL draft. He was outstanding for South Carolina and should immediately step into a starting cornerback spot.

Assuming McGee can stay healthy and Gilmore fulfills his potential, Buffalo should be much better at stopping the pass. That’s key in a division featuring Tom Brady, who’s practically unstoppable no matter how many weapons he has around him.

Still, the Bills definitely went out and addressed their weaknesses during the offseason and we should therefore see some improvement.
