While basketball and hockey are over for New York City, there is still plenty of baseball action to be had between the Mets and the Yankees. Even though these teams may not be performing up to a New York standard so far this season, let’s take a look back on their weeks and see what their MLB odds have upcoming in the weeks ahead.

Yankees start recovering

After being at the bottom of the AL East for most of the start of the season, the Yankess are starting to play like their payroll says they should. The Bronx Bombers had a great week last week, as they went on a five game winning streak against the Royals and the A’s.

This week was slightly a different story, as they had to go on the road to face an Angels team that is finally finding their stride as well. New York lost two of the three games against LA, only winning the most recent one, 6-5. After having the day off Thursday, New York has another tough three gams series against the Tigers in Detroit. The Yankees currently sit at 27-23, 1.5 games back of first place in the division.

Surprising Mets

Everyone in the baseball world had the Mets in the basement this season, but after the first fifty games or so, the Mets are right in the thick of things in the NL East. While the Phillies and Braves are in the basement, the Mets are 28-23 and only 1.5 games back of the Nationals for the division lead.

The Mets are about to start a big four game series in St. Louis against my Cardinals, and they could use a good series. They get to use Johan Santana and their surprise big starter RA Dickey in the third game of the weekend. Dickey has been excellent this season, with a 7-1 record, 61 strikeouts and a .231 BAA.
