After a meltdown in Game 4, the Rangers will be looking to forget about that performance and head back to Madison Square Garden for Game 5. The Rangers are the favorites from NHL betting shops, and with the series tied at 2-2; there can be no more mistakes. Can the Rangers protect home ice and force the Devil’s hand, or will Ilya Kovakchuk and the Devils take control of this series?

This series has turned into a good old fashion street brawl, which is why most of us watch hockey to begin with, right? In Game 4, Rangers’ star goalie Martin Brodeur was punched in the face when he was not looking. To make matters worse, it was Mike Rupp who hit him. Rupp used to be teammates with Brodeur.

The incident set off a firestorm on the ice, as the Devils went on to score two more goals in the third period to take the win 4-1. Devils’ left wing Zach Parise was the third period star, as he scored both goals and had an assist on the evening.

Now dazed and probably kind of pissed, the Rangers get to host a pivotal Game 5. The Los Angeles Kings have already made it to the Stanley Sup Finals, so both of these teams would love to get a victory here and be the ones on the good end of a closeout Game 6.

The Rangers are 5-2 SU in their last seven home games, and they are also 4-2 SU in their last six against the Devils from Madison Square Garden. These two have split their last ten meetings all together 5-5 SU.

I like the Rangers in this one. I think the punch to Brodeur is going to set off a firestorm from the number one seed. I see the Rangers taking down New Jersey this evening and winning on the moneyline.
