Yesterday marked a very, very sad day for New York baseball. Mets Hall of Fame catcher, Gary Carter, passed away at the age of 57 from terminal brain cancer. Carter played 19 seasons in the Majors, five of those seasons with the Mets. Carter was a key cog for the ’86 Mets and the man that they called ‘Kid’, possessed second-to-none passion for the game.

While we haven’t always agreed with Gary Carter, this is a sad, sad time for the city.

RIP, Kid--About.com
