Last week, I posted a perfect 3-0 record to improve to 18-14-1 on the season. This week, my picks will focus on these three games:

  • Buffalo at San Diego
  • New York Giants at Dallas
  • St. Louis at Seattle

Beast Mode For Marshawn?

Game #1: Buffalo at San Diego (-7)

Disappointing. Disappointing is the best word to describe the state of these two teams. After a hot start, the Buffalo Bills have lost five straight games, losing these games by an average of 18 points. For the season, the Bills are 1-5 on the road and have lost their best player, Fred Jackson, for the season. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has only been sacked 15 times this season, but tends to wilt when teams put pressure on him.

The 5-7 San Diego Chargers are starting their typical December, ‘must-win’ run of games. They started things off right with a 38-14 beatdown of the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night. Look for them to carry that momentum into this game.

If Phil Rivers can get the ball down field to Vincent Jackson, Vincent Brown, and Antonio Gates, the Chargers should have no trouble running away with this one. I like the Chargers a lot. They never fade quietly and we’ll be in the thick of things.

The Pick: San Diego (-7)

Game #2: New York Giants (+3.5) at Dallas

Are there two more desperate teams in the league? The 6-6 Giants have dropped four straight games while the 7-5 Dallas Cowboys lost a heart breaker to the Arizona Cardinals last week. With only four games to go, this game is an absolute must-win for the Giants. For the Giants, they must set the tone upfront on offense. The Giant offensive has only allowed 23 sacks this season (fifth best), but they haven’t gone up against Dallas pass rush that features athletic pass rushers. This match-up is the key to the game.

Both Eli and Tony Romo have great down field passing options, so this game will come down to the pass rush.

For me, the Giants are the more desperate team in this situation. Ahmad Bradshaw should be close to 100% and that’ll take some pressure off of Eli. Look for the Giants to come into Dallas and take a close one.

When in doubt, pick against Tony Romo in a pressure filled spot.

The Pick: New York Giants (+3.5)

Game #3: St. Louis at Seattle (-10)

Sam Bradford practiced on Saturday, but he looks very questionable to play on Monday Night. If he can’t go, the Rams will turn to..Kellen Clemens (gulp). The 2-10 Rams have been one of the biggest disappointments since being named NFC West favorites before the season started. The Rams have a signature win against the New Orleans Saints, but that seems like forever ago. Last week, they put on an absolutely putrid performance in San Francisco. The Rams generated just 157 yards of total offense as they were shut out, 26-0.

The 5-7 Seattle Seahawks had a busy off-season, but will look to make their mark next season. The ‘Hawks are 3-3 at home and have signature home wins over the Ravens and Eagles. As any football fan knows, playing in Seattle is tough for any team. The ’12th man’ and Marshawn Lynch’s ‘Beast Mode’ is enough to make any opponent cringe. Seattle desperately needs a quarterback, so expect them to lean heavily on Lynch.

The Rams are a hapless, disapponting, putrid team. Expect another Monday Night snooze fest as the Seahawks roll.

The Pick: Seattle (-10)
