Get your brooms out because the Bombers have swept away the Chicago White Sox. Ivan Nova delivered an absolute electric performance tonight, tossing 7.2 innings of one-run ball. Nova, who is constantly auditioning for his spot on the team, struck out a career high 10 Chicago hitters. Offensively, Russell led the way with four RBIs. With the win, the Yanks improve to a season best 68-42, tied with Boston atop the AL East.

Just to start things off, let’s do a nameless comparison…

Player A: 10-4, 3.81 ERA
Player B: 8-9, 4.53 ERA

Player A was tonight’s starter. Player B is none other than AJ Burnett. Just sayin’.

Nova looked dominant tonight. His fastball was in the mid-90s for the entire game. He has developed a devastating slider that routinely puts hitters away. It’s time to leave him in the rotation.

I really can’t say enough about Ivan Nova. At just 24 years-old, the Yankees have a pitcher who has won his last six decisions. Nova will be fixture of the Yankee rotation for the seeable future. If the Yankees take him out of the rotation, then they’re lost. It’s time to take his name off of the trade list for good and led him be a stable SP3, SP4. Growing pains are expected, but it’s time to take the kid gloves off. Pitching in Triple A won’t do him any good.

Outside of the Nova hype, Robinson added his 18th home run. Russell drove in four big ones. This offense is hitting its stride at the right time as they head into Boston.

Time to ship up to Boston for a big series. The Red Sox have owned the Yankees this season. Time for some payback.

Friday, 7:05 PM: Bartolo Colon (8-6, 3.30 ERA) vs. Jon Lester (11-4, 3.17 ERA)
