Talk about going from bad to worse. The Seattle Mariners dropped their 16th straight game tonight as the Yankees embarrassed the M’s, 10-3. A two-hour rain delay couldn’t slow down Freddy Garcia as he gave us 7.2 innings of three-run ball. Mark Teixeira crushed his 27th bomb and Derek Jeter added a homer of his own while droving in three runs. With the win, the Yankees move to 60-40 and currently sit 2.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox.

Freddy Tossin' The Pill

The Yankee offense got things rolling and never looked back. Teix hit an absolute bomb in the first inning, spotting the home club a 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish. In addition to Teix, Jeet, Brett Gardner, and Eduardo Nunez had multi-hit games.

Pitchers absolutely hate to sit through rain delays. Their schedules are thrown off, they get impatient, but that wasn’t a factor for Freddy Garcia. Mr. Garcia came out and gave the Yankees 7.2 strong innings of three-run ball. The victory was Garcia’s ninth of the season. Garcia has been awesome so far, sporting an impressive 3.23 ERA. Let’s hope he can keep this up for the rest of the season.

Congrats to long-time minor league pitcher Steve Garrison. The lefty reliever made his MLB debut tonight, tossing a perfect ninth. Welcome to the bigs, Stevey.

As for the Mariners, they are lacking total enthusiasm for the game. Errors, base running mistakes, poor pitching. There is no heart, passion, or desire. The Yankees need to keep preying on the weak and adding numbers to the left side of the column. Expect this team to be big time sellers as the trade deadline approaches.
