With the All-Star break right around the corner, it’s time to start talking about my favorite event, the Home Run Derby. Alike prior years, each league will send four representatives. However, the two prior champions, Prince Fielder (2009) and David Ortiz (2010), were given the ability to recruit three team mates to participate in the contest. Ortiz (17 HRs) selected AL HR leader, Jose Bautista (27), team mate Adrian Gonzalez (16), and buddy, Robinson Cano (14). Fielder (21) selected Dodgers center fielder, Matt Kemp (22), team mate Rickie Weeks (15), and St. Louis left fielder, Matt Holliday (10). The two players with the highest two-round totals will advance to the finals. In years past, we’ve seen some impressive displays (Ortiz 2010; Josh Hamilton 2009), so anything can happen. I can’t wait to see these hitters launch homers in Arizona’s swimming pool in right center field.

Who are you excited to see? Who do you think will win? My money is on Jose Bautista, but I think Big Papi will put on a show.

Watch Out!
