After the first inning, AJ Burnett was officially “Good AJ” today:

Burnett 7 3 2 2 5 3
Gonzalez 6.1 5 4 4 4 4

AJ Burnett allowed a double to David DeJesus and a home run to Josh Willingham, but did not allow another hit until the fifth inning. His fastball had great movement – that allowed his curveball down in the dirt to be especially effective tonight.

Besides an Alex Rodriguez RBI-double in the top of the first, the story of the Yankees offense tonight was Nick Swisher, who was returning to the team that he broke into the big leagues with. Swisher’s three-run home run to deep left field solidified the Yankee lead as the Yankees turned to Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera to close out the weak A’s lineup.

Key Stats
