Tigers starter, Max Scherzer completely baffled Yankee hitters tonight tossing eight shout out innings en-route to a 4-0 victory. Scherzer allowed four hits and two walks while striking out nine. Freddy Garcia got the ball tonight for the Bombers and gave the team length. Garcia gave the Yankees seven plus innings, but allowed four runs on ten hits. Garcia posted a season-high eight strikeouts in the loss.

Derek Jeter left the game in the eighth inning with a sore hip. He was replaced by Eduardo Nunez and is day-to-day.

Game Recap

Really not too much to say about this one. Scherzer struck out every Yankee starter outside of Curtis Granderson. The Yankees had their chance to get on the scoreboard in the eighth inning when Brett Gardner walked and Frankie Cervelli singled. Derek Jeter weakly flew out to right field before Granderson bounced into a double play to the end inning. The offense only mustered four hits as the team battled another chilly night in Detroit. At least they’ll get some warm weather in Texas this weekend.
