Via MLBTR, the Yankees have expressed ‘some interest’ in the signing the recently waived Oliver Perez. I can only think of a few positives of signing Perez.

  • He’s 29-years-old and left-handed. Left-handed pitching is coveted.
  • The Yankees would only have pay him the league minimum.
  • Boone Logan and Pedro Feliciano have dealt with injuries.

However, the negative far outweigh the positives with Perez. He is a well-documented clubhouse cancer. He has lost a ton of velocity on his fastball. If he has one bad outing, the Yankee fans would be all over him. If anything, Cash was just doing his due diligence on the situation. I’ll give it a 1% chance of happening.
