Just when everybody thought the end of the ‘Melo drama was near, another twist in the never ending “Where will ‘Melo go” drama has occurred. Reportedly, the Knicks have already met with Carmelo, something the Nets have yet to do, and a deal could be announced as soon as Monday or Tuesday.

All ‘Melo does is win championships when he’s on a NY team

The newest deal includes three of the Knicks starters, Ray Felton, Danilo Gallinari, and Wilson Chandler, along with the expiring contract of Eddy Curry and a first round pick to Denver in exchange for Chauncey Billups, Renaldo Balkman, Shelden Williams, and of course this Carmelo guy.

The Knicks would need to acquire a 1st round pick still, but believe they would be able to do so in exchange for Anthony Randolph.

That would leave the starting of the Knicks looking like this:

PG: Chauncey Billups

SG: Landry Fields

SF: Carmelo Anthony

PF: Amar’e Stoudemire

C: Timofey Mozgov

The only problem: Chauncey Billups has two more years remaining on his contract at about $14 million per season. They would have to try and move him after next year in order to be able to sign either Deron Williams or Chris Paul to be their point guard for the next six years.

Let’s not worry about Chris Paul or Deron Williams right now though, because without Carmelo, neither would come to New York anyways. Get it done Dolan. Bring ‘Melo home, and some legitimate help for Amar’e Stoudemire.
