Free agent pitcher Alfredo Aceves and the Boston Red Sox agreed to a one-year contract today. Aceves signed a Major League contract and will earn $650,000 plus incentives. Aceves was awesome for the Bombers during 2009 (10-1 in 43 games), but dealt with balky back issues for basically all of 2010 (3.00 ERA in 10 games). Ace broke his clavicle in a riding accident earlier this off-season, but is expected to be ready for the regular season. He still has two minor league options left and Boston saw some value there.

It’s sad to see him go, which Adam pointed out last June, but he has officially shipped up to Boston.
