With uncertainty involving the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and the overall structure of the 2011 New York Jets (17 free agents), the team wasted little time before making it’s first move during the off-season. According to sources, the Jets will use their lone franchise tag on linebacker, David Harris. Harris had 99 tackles and three sacks last season, but recorded 127 tackles in 2007 and 2009.

The Jets franchise tagging Harris is contingent upon the Players’ Association fighting for the right to franchise in the new CBA. By tagging Harris, the Jets are guaranteeing him one year of at least $9.4 million. Harris is seeking a long-term which both sides should be able to agree on.

Other notable Jet free agents include: Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Brad Smith, and Antonio Cromartie.
