The Twins have agreed to re-sign righty Carl Pavano to a two-year, $16 million deal. During the week, we heard rumors that Pavano and (wait for it…) the Yankees were ‘seriously negotiating’ a high-salary, one-year deal. However, the Yankees would have only completed the deal if another team agreed to do a sign-and-trade with the Bombers, allowing them to keep their draft pick.

Pavano’s first stint with the Yankees was an absolute train wreck. From 2005-2008, the Yankees paid Pavano $40 million and received only 26 total appearances. Pavano fits the mold of ‘better than Mitre or Nova‘, but alike many ex-girlfriends, it’s better to leave the past, firmly in the past.
