Today, the Yankees avoided arbitration with Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, and Boone Logan. Chamberlain received $1.4MM, Hughes received $2.7MM, and Logan received $1.2MM. Chamberlain and Hughes were arbitration eligible for the first time while this was Logan’s second time.

It’s good news that the Yankees avoided the dreaded arbitration hearings. Compared to what these players would receive on the open market, the Yankees got relatively cheap prices on prime, young arms. Goes to show how important home grown players are to baseball organizations.
