The Yankees have just increased their offer to a seventh year for Cliff Lee, according to a tweet from SI’s Jon Heyman. With Carl Crawford and Jayson Werth both getting deals of seven years, and with the Red Sox reported to be one of the “mystery teams” that had a seven-year offer on the table, it’d be difficult for Cashman and Co. to sign Lee without matching that length.

The Yanks’ previous offer to Lee was reported to be six years and $140 million.
