The New York Mets front office continued its growth on Monday afternoon with the hiring of Paul DePodesta as Vice Present of Player Development and Scouting. The move further solidifies an already experienced front office including Sandy Alderson and J.P. Ricciardi. The 38-year old DePodesta had previously worked with the San Diego Padres organization since 2006. He had also sat alongside the well-regarded General Manager Billy Beane as his assistant in Oakland, and was even General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2004-2005. DePodesta is known for his advanced interest in sabermetrics, which is basically the analysis of baseball in a statistical manner. His experience within baseball operations will surely serve as an advantage with the Mets front office.
