In a game that featured not one, but TWO A-Bombs, two Mark Teixeira text messages, a Nick Swisher shot, and a Curtis Granderson long ball has to figure to be a Yankee win, right? Wrong. The Boston Red Sox shipped down to the Bronx and took down Andy Pettitte and the New York Yankees 10-8. With the tough loss and the Rays win, Tampa Bay jumps back into first place.

Andy Pettitte looked downright awful tonight. He got shelled all over the ballpark. In only 3.1 innings, he gave up ten hits and seven runs while only striking out one batter. He was relieved by Jon Albaaaaalalalalaladejo who promptly gave up another three runs in less than two innings of work.

This clearly did not help the winning cause, although the Yankee bats clearly did as much as they could. Mark Teixeira sent his first text message since August 31st then followed that off with another in the ninth off of friend of the blog Jonathan Papelbon. Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come.

Alex Rodriguez added in two home runs of his own, putting his career home run total to 610. He passed Sammy Sosa (609) to become the sixth best home run hitter of all time.

Hey look! A Sergio Mitre sighting! He’s an outside shot to make the playoff roster, but he pitched two shut out innings. Not too bad for someone who has pitched only twice this month.

Hopefully, the Yankees can get the wheels a-turning tomorrow. They face off against lefty Jon Lester tomorrow at 4:00 on FOX. On the mound for the Yankees, #47, Ivan Nova.
