Considering there was a two hour, eleven minute rain delay and it’s getting late, sorry for the lack of a recap. However, the New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays 7-2. A.J. Burnett left the game in the third when the rain came, but he allowed one run and that in turn gives him the loss. With the loss, the Yankees Magic Number stays at 3.

What went well tonight? A-Rod managed his 113th RBI of the year on a bloop single. Also, Lance Berkman FINALLY hit his first home run as a Yankee, which also broke up the combined no hitter by the Wade Davis and Jeremy Hellickson.

On the other hand, Chad Gaudin gave up back-to-back home runs to Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria as the Rays took an early lead and held on for the remainder of the rain-delayed game.

Tomorrow is the last time that the Yankees and the Rays will face each other in the regular season this year. You already know who’s pitching, so get ready for another battle. By the way, keep an eye open for writers Matt Vereb, Kenny Mauss, and myself in the seats as we will be in attendance.
