Mariano Rivera blew a save in the ninth and Dave Robertson allowed a game-winning single by Ty Wigginton in the 11th to give the Baltimore Orioles a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees. With the Yankee loss and the Tampa Bay loss, the Yankees remain in first place in the AL East.

Positives From The Game:

Walk it Out: The Yankees utilized four walks and a single in the top of the fourth to get two runs off of Chris Tillman.

Welcome Back, Andy: Andy Pettitte came back today for his first start since July 18th. He went six innings and only allowed three hits and one run.

A-Rod and Mark Teixeira got the day off today. Always nice to see the Yankees compete while giving the two big boys a sabbatical.

Negatives From The Game:

I was having a nice time, causing watching the Yankees while catching up on some NFL action, and then Mariano Rivera gives up a game-tying home run to Luke Scott. Ugh.

Both Alex Rodriguez pinch hit in the top of the 11th and earned walks. Then, obviously, they were pinch-run for. For two banged up guys, it was a quick way to burn through four players. It also didn’t help that Derek Jeter was intentionally walked and Lance Berkman grounded into an inning ending double play with the bases loaded.

Interesting Facts:

The Yankees left 12 runners on base today. This is a horrible habit they need to get out of.

Nothing else. Enjoy the Jets and the Giants games.
