Bob McKenzie, from Canada’s TSN, Tweeted earlier today that defenseman Marc Staal and the Rangers have come to terms on a 5-year, $19.875 million deal with an annual cap hit of $3.975 million, meaning Staal will be there for the start of training camp. Steve Zipay Tweets the salary breakdown – “$3.1 mil this year, then $3.675 m, $3.775, $3.875 and $5.45 in 2013-14”.

Everyone can breathe just a little easier. As much props as possible goes to the Rangers for ending this now, and not letting it linger into training camp and become a distraction, like the Dubinsky thing last year.
