Roy Oswalt looked like the pitcher the Mets needed to acquire to give themselves a shot at a playoff push. The only problem was he was in the Phillies dugout holding the Mets to just four hits. Sigh.

The Scoop: The Philly defense looked good today (The Eagles cannot say the same). Roy Oswalt held the Mets to just four hits in his complete game throttling of New York this afternoon. It’s another series loss for the Mets who can’t get out of their own way, or beyond 1st base for that matter.

The Good:

There’s less than 20 games left in this forgettable season.

The Bad:

Seeing Roy Oswalt push the Phils to the top of the division.

The Ugly:

The Offense. Only four hits, and one walk in 9 innings. Not one runner made it to 2nd base. Yuck.

What’s Next?

The Mets welcome the even lowlier Pirates to Citi Field. Over/Under on actual attendance is 45,000… for the entire 4 game series.
