The Scoop: On the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Mets faced off against their rival Phillies in the second game of the weekend series. Mike Pelfrey looked good as he picked up his team leading 14th win of the season. He was excellent through seven innings, before working into a jam in the 8th. None the less, the Mets bullpen bent but didn’t break as they were able to hold on to the four run lead and preserve the victory.

The Good:

The Big Pelf: Big Mike was good today as he went 7.1 innings, giving up only two runs. He improves to 14-9 on the season, with an ERA of 3.89.

Taka: Hisanori Takahashi picked up his 6th save of the season, as he continues to pitch well, no matter what situation the Mets put him in.

I Still Like Ike: A 4-4 day with 3 RBIs. His numbers are rounding into an extremely successful rookie campaign. Big things will be expected of him next year.

The Bad:

What’s Next?

The finale of the three game set between these two. It’d be nice to see the Mets play spoilers against these damn Phils.
