Our Mets managed to find Johan Santana a few runs, and he did what he does for 5 innings, picking up his 11th win of the season as the Mets climbed back to within two games of the .500 mark at 66-68.
Carlos Beltran thrilled about the BIG WIN TONIGHT!!
Before Johan Santana left the game after 5 innings with a mild pectoral strain, he looked pretty good. Oddly enough, the Mets even gave him some run support (as in 2) before he left the game. The offense continues to struggle as it has all season, even with the new faces in the lineup. Lucas Duda played in place of Angel Pagan and promptly went 0-5 batting in the two hole. Our Mets are now 1-3 on this road trip as they ship up to the Windy City.
4 WHOLE RUNS!!! The Mets somehow scored more than 2 or 3 runs tonight as they picked up a win for the first time in awhile, because off the top of my head, I can’t remember their last win. Beltran had a triple, and scored on a throwing error in the first. That was followed up later in the inning by an infield single with the bases loaded by Joaqin Arias. Welcome to mediocrity party Joaqin. The Mets sure know how to put together a big inning.
Johan Santana left the game after 5 innings. Nobody wants to see the ace leave the game with an injury. Hopefully he’s okay.
Wins are always good, so we refrain from an ugly statement.
The Metsies head to the Windy City for a three game set with the Cubbies.
