Initial Reaction:

The game looked like it could have gotten very ugly, very fast tonight with the Athletics 3-0 start in the first inning. Then, the Yankees got turns to bat and completely turned the game around. Let’s hope the Yankee offense can continue to pick up the slack for the mediocre pitching.

Positives From The Game:

The Thames are Good: Marcus Thames is on a ridiculous hot streak. He homered again tonight to bring it to four home runs in the past three games.

Keep the O Rollin’: The offense continued their success without Alex Rodriguez. Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano went back-to-back in the third inning.

Grabbin’ the Win: Javier Vazquez certainly earned the win tonight. He pitched a third of an inning more than Dustin Moseley, and he allowed three less walks and runs, while striking out more.

Negatives From The Game:

Dustin Moseley looked ugly early, but turned it around quickly with the help of the big bats and Javier Vazquez as the long man.

Interesting Facts:

Marcus Thames Last 3: 4 HR, 7 RBI, 4 Runs

The Yankees are 15-3 without Alex Rodriguez this year.

With the Rays win, the Yankees and Rays have matched each other for eight consecutive days.
