The Yankees will head home and kick off their home stand with four against the sluggish Detroit Tigers. Detroit, 56-60 (10 1/2 games behind Minnesota) has dropped ten of fourteen games during August. The Yankees, 72-45, are one game ahead of Tampa Bay in the AL East. The Tigers took three of four in Detroit earlier this season, so expect the Yankees to seek out some revenge. Tuesday’s pitching match-up, Justin Verlander vs. CC Sabathia, should be verrrry fun.

Keys To The Series:

1.Slow Down Miguel Cabrera: Tigers’ first baseman, Miguel Cabrera, ranks among the top five in all three Triple Crown categories. Cabrera has 26 HRs (3rd), 94 RBIs (2nd), and a .338 batting average (2nd). Cabrera wore out Yankee pitching earlier this season, going 6 for 14 with three RBIs. The guy is gooooood.

2. Keep Hitting, A-Rod: After A-Rod’s three-homer binge on Saturday night, he surpassed the aforementioned Cabrera for the AL’s RBI lead with 97. Rodriguez is on pace for 30 home runs and 128 RBIs. Not bad for a ‘down year’.
