The New York Yankees were defeated tonight by the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 8-2. Dustin Moseley was good at times, but awful in one inning that just broke the game open and the stagnant Yankee offense could not turn it around. With the loss and the Devil Ray win, the Yankees drop into second in the AL East and first in the AL Wildcard.

Initial Reaction:

The Yankees simply got creamed tonight. A-Rod went a frustrating 0-3 with no walks. When your 4-hole hitter only gets FOUR  at bats, you know something went wrong. The Yankees only managed three baserunners in the entire game.

Positives From The Game:

Text Message!: Mark Teixeira’s two-run shot in the bottom of the first gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead, just like last night. Unfortunately, the rest of the game was like last night…

Negatives From The Game:

Where to start? Moseley had an awful game. The Yankees had two hits in the entire game. That’s not what us baseball experts call “good”.

Interesting Facts:

The first six outs recorded by Dustin Moseley were all groundouts.

The Jays also had three home runs off of Moseley, which isn’t what I would call keeping the ball down. Get well soon, Andy.

Mark Teixeira, Brett Gardner, and Marcus Thames were the only Yankees to reach base today.

What’s Next?:

The Yankees will finish their three game series tomorrow afternoon against the Blue Jays. Let’s hope the Yanks can steal a game from the series.

Projected Starters:

Shaun Marcum (10-4, 3.24 ERA) vs. Phil Hughes (12-4, 4.07 ERA)
