Match-Up: Los Angeles Dodgers (Padilla) at San Diego Padres (Latos)

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres will conclude their three-game set in San Diego tonight. The Padres will send out their young ace, Mat Latos (11-4, 2.48 ERA) to the mound. Latos has won six straight decisions and has not lost since June 4th in Philadelphia. Latos only has one career start against the Dodgers, taking the loss in only three innings of work. Latos is 4-2 with a 2.23 ERA at Petco Park this year.

The Dodgers will counter with resurgent righty, Vincente Padilla. Padilla (4-3, 3.41) has excelled ever since he landed in LA. Padilla has won three of his last four decisions while posting a 2-1 record against the Padres in his career.

I’m going with the Padres at home here. The Dodgers have dominated the season series so far in San Diego (4 to 1), but Latos will give the Padres a quality start. Latos has only given up three runs over his last five starts while striking out 42 hitters in 41 innings.

The Pick: San Diego Padres

July Record: 15-12
