After last night’s disappoint loss, R.A. Dickey threw 8 2/3 innings of shutout ball to pace the Mets to a 4-0 victory. Dickey (7-4, 2.33 ERA) has been great for the Mets this season. The 52-50 Mets will now have to deal with Roy Oswalt in Philadelphia, but will look to use this home stand to get back in contention in the NL East.

Initial Reaction:

What else can we say about the knuckle baller? RA Dickey has been everything and more for the Mets this year. Even though Dickey has dropped his last four decisions, he bounced back with a great performance today. His four-hits allowed are a personal season low for Dickey.

Ike Davis supplied the offense today as he mashed a third inning, three-run home run. Ike’s 15th bomb firmly put the Mets ahead.

Positives From The Game:

Dickey and Ike: These two pretty much paced the Mets to victory.

Series Win: For the first time in the second half, the Mets have won a series!

Negatives From The Game:

Seven hits: The Mets only mustered seven hits today. Angel Pagan was the only Met to have multiple hits.

Frenchy Fails: Ever since the Carlos Beltran has come back from injury, Jeff Francouer really hasn’t gotten going. He was 0 for 4 today.

What’s Next?:

The Mets will welcome the D’Backs to Citi Field for three games. Let’s hope for a sweep!

Pitching Match-Up:

Ian Kennedy (5-8, 4.10 ERA) vs. Mike Pelfrey (10-5, 4.00 ERA)
