Match-Up: Minnesota Twins (Liriano) at Kansas City Royals (Greinke)

The Twins are amidst a fear battle in the American League Central. On the other hand, the Kansas City Royals, are looking to play spoiler in the second half. The Twins have taken two of three in each of the first two series against KC this year.

The Twins will send out their resurgent lefty, Francisco Liriano. Liriano (8-7, 3.54 ERA) has won his last two starts, but sports a 3-4 record with a 4.91 ERA on the road. Even though Liriano has not faced the Royals this year, he carries a 3-3 record with a 4.84 ERA.

The Royals will counter with their ace, Zack Greinke. Greinke (6-9, 3.59 ERA) didn’t receive much run support in the first half, but has four of last five decisions, dating back to June 25th. Greinke is 4-4 with a 4.15 ERA at home this season. He is 0-2 with a 7.70 ERA this season against the Twins.

The Royals got home late last night from New York so I expect there to be some fatigue. Greinke has been very mediocre this season and I think the Twins will take advantage of him.

The Pick: Minnesota Twins

July Record: 12-12
