We’ve been hearing it for the last 12 hours or so that the Yankees and D’Backs are in discussions for two-time All-Star, Dan Haren. Diamondbacks president, Derrick Hall confirmed that the Yankees are one of the team that are in on Haren.

I mentioned last night that the D’Backs are coveting ‘young pitching’. Whether that pertains to minor leaguers or players in the big leagues remains to be seen.

Jayson Stark of ESPN said last night that was nothing was ‘imminent’ between the Yanks and D’Backs.

The Yankees rejected Arizona’s original proposal of sending Joba Chamberlain, Ivan Nova, and two lower level pitching prospects for Haren and the entire $30 million remaining on the deal.

Would the Yankees trade the arbitration-eligible Chamberlain if Arizona agreed to pay a part of Haren’s contract? It’d be hard to say no…

Do I think this deal will happen?: No. The Yankee attachment to Joba Chamberlain will ultimately halt this deal.

Do you think this will happen?
