The Mets are finished. They are now 1-7 on this current road trip with 3 more games against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is no coincidence that the Mets have been awful since Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez, the cancers of the Mets, have returned. They have dropped to 3rd in the National League East, 7 games back of the Atlanta Braves.

Initial Reaction: Hisanori Takahashi bounced back from an awful start in San Francisco, as he faced off against Hiroki Kuroda of the Dodgers. Both pitched extremely well as there was only 9 hits combined in the entire game Takahashi went 7 innings giving up only 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. The Mets however, couldn’t score a run, for what is now 17 consecutive innings and have scored 4 runs or fewer in 13 straight games. Pathetic.

The Positives:

There is nothing positive about another loss in this roadtrip. Takahashi pitched well, but he put the Mets in a hole in the 1st inning. Nobody hits, especially with runners in scoring position, and the strikeouts are occuring at an astonishing rate.

The Negatives:

Omar Minaya: It is no coincidence that since Luis Castillo, Oliver Perez, and Carlos Beltran have returned, the Mets are 1-7. While Beltran is a necessity to this team, and the best player when healthy, Castillo and Perez are cancer to the Mets.

RISP: The reason the Mets don’t score is because they don’t get hit when they have runners in scoring position. Last night was another example, going 0-3 with RISP.
