Match-Up: Texas Rangers (Hunter) at Detroit Tigers (Galarraga)

Pitchers who have thrown either perfect games or near perfect games have endured some tough luck since. Dallas Braden of the Oakland A’s has gone 0-6. The Phillies don’t like to score runs when Roy Halladay pitches and Armando Galarraga was sent to Triple A after only five starts after his near perfect game.

Galarraga has been recalled from Triple A and will make his first start on Tuesday night. Galarraga has given up 17 runs over his last 20 innings before being sent down. However, he is 2-0 with a 2.57 at home this year.

Galarraga will be opposed by Rangers young gun, Tommy Hunter. Hunter is a perfect 6-0 with a 2.38 ERA this season. Hunter beat the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday. He is 1-0 on the road this year.

Detroit has dropped five straight games. With a struggling Galarraga on the mound and a hungry Texas offense ready to pounce, I’ll take the Rangers.

The Pick: Texas Rangers

July Record: 8-10
