Match-Up: Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels

The Mariners and Angels will both look to play better baseball in the second half. Both teams trail the red-hot Texas Rangers who recently acquired All-World pitcher, Cliff Lee.

The Mariners will send out their energetic ace, Felix Hernandez to the mound. After watching Hernandez pitch twice in the past two weeks, he looked absolutely dominant. Maybe he just gets up for the Yankees? But let’s look at his last two months of starts. Hernandez has thrown at least six innings in last nine starts, posting a 5-1 record with a 2.13 ERA. He has thrown four complete game wins during that stretch, two of which came against the Yanks. In his only start against the Angels, he threw eight innings of one-run ball. He did not factor into the decision.

The Angels have not named a starter for tomorrow, but to me, it really doesn’t matter. Felix is hot right now and I’m riding that hot streak for a W.

The Pick: Seattle Mariners

July Record: 6-8
