What a crazy week. LeBron James officially sold out. The Yankees had Cliff Lee in their grasp before losing him the last second. Sigh.

Anyway, check out the rumors below to see what’s brewing..

Lilly Pad in Citi Field?

After losing out on Cliff Lee, the Mets will turn their attention to the other available pitchers. The Mets seem the most interested in lefty, Ted Lilly. Lilly is 3-7 this season, but has a very respectable 3.76 ERA. By trade, Lilly is a fly ball pitch who should excel in spacious Citi Field.

My Take: Lilly would be a great fit for the Mets. The Cubs are 10 1/2 games out of first place in the NL Central, so they’ve already started to wave the white flag. The Mets will only pay half of Lilly’s six million dollar salary and in comparison to a Lee trade, will yield fewer prospects.

Dan Haren On The Yankee Radar?

After losing out on Cliff Lee, the Yankees may turn their attention to Arizona Diamondback starting pitcher, Dan Haren. Even though Haren is 7-7 with a 4.71, he has struck out 125 hitters in 130 innings. Haren has struck out at least 192 hitters over the last three seasons. In addition, he’s under team control until 2012.

My Take: I doubt the Yankees explore this deal. Cliff Lee would have been a slam dunk. Haren would be more like a missed layup.

Anthony Morrow, a Net

The Nets have agreed to a three-year, $12 million dollar deal with shooting guard, Anthony Morrow. While on the Warriors last year, Morrow averaged 13 points per game while shooting 46% from behind the arc.

My Take: Ho hum. No big name free agents for the Nets.

That’s all for this week. The Jets still need to organize new deals for Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, and David Harris, but they all should get done. Nothing new on those fronts, though.
