Well, it was fun while it lasted. The Yankee and Mariner trade for Cliff Lee fell apart this afternoon. The Yankees agreed to send Jesus Montero, David Adams, and Zach McAllister to Seattle for Cliff Lee. The Mariners were ready to accept the trade, but got cold feet when a few medical red flags appeared on both Adams and McAllister. They immediately began exploring other trade options and the Rangers came through a mega four-prospect offer centered around slugging rookie first baseman, Justin Smoak. Smoak has hit eight home runs for Texas this season.
For the second time today, a man named Lee was traded. Which I think is pretty cool.
Given the Yankees strong starting pitching this season (46 total wins), I won’t be losing any sleep over this deal, will you?
